I decided to stay in Columbus. I'm happy with my decision overall, but I wish I could see my family and friends in Medina more often. My job is kind of up in the air as of now. I turned down the position in back home before receiving an offer in Columbus. I've been interviewing like crazy. Almost one or two interviews a day for over two weeks straight with only about two days off. I'm ready for the interviewing stage to be over. I'm getting an offer tomorrow will get another offer or a rejection by the end of the week. I'm pretty excited about the offer. It's at a consulting company, which makes me a little nervous, but it seems like a pretty exciting company with people I'd enjoy working with. It will be such a relief when I'm finally secured in my first career job.
I stopped at MAC and Nordstom after work to get myself a couple of things to pre-celebrate a new job, lol. ...and to spend some of my graduation money. I went to the MAC counter to see how some colors would look on me. I told the girl that I wanted Beauty Marked ("deep blackened red with a sparkle/twilight effect") as eyeliner, and colors that would look good with it. She said that she doesn't like using shadow as eyeliner and automatically used black pencil under the shadow for liner. I can see her point, but I really prefer just shadow. I think it's a lot softer and not as... dark. Especially with my extremely pale skin. I'm not sure if I like it. It looks a little better after I put some bronzer on. I was a little disappointed and ended up buying a completely different color than what she used.
haha, Blueberry discovered... shoes. She was having a blast attacking my shoes the other day. She's kind of strange. It's amusing.
I had a great birthday weekend :) It started out going to the Happy Greek for Matt and my three month anniversary. After dinner, we walked around the park for a bit during the end of what we found to be an Earth Day festival. Next came a birthday celebration with a few friends at Dave and Busters.
My Dad came to visit on Saturday, and we went to Cap City with my aunt, uncle, second cousin, and Matt. The food was delicious, and I had the biggest, most decedent piece of chocolate cake... ever. I couldn't even eat 1/4 of a piece, and I'm the girl who eats entire pints (or so, haha) of ice cream in one sitting. mmmm, ice creaam :D
Here are some oh-so exciting pictures of from Dave and Busters :)
I got about $120 for my birthday so far :)
And...
Blueberry decided to boycott her litter box yesterday. She pottied twice outside of the litter box and hasn't gone at all since. Luckily both times were easy to clean up and, surprisingly, it didn't smell... After talking to Noelle and calling the vet, I discovered that she may have a UTI or some other type of infection. I spent about $32 on a temporary litter box, litter, a kitty bed, and moist cat food yesterday so I could keep her in the bathroom while I'm asleep or not home so she can't use the carpeted floor as a litter box. I took kitty to the vet this afternoon. They're going to do a urine test, but Blueberry has to go to the bathroom first. Apparently there wasn't anything in her bladder, so I was sent home with a "collection kit". Hopefully she'll go by tomorrow evening, or something really serious could be wrong, she'll have to stay overnight at the vet and possibly get blood work. :(
So... Vet bill, after $30 first time customer coupon, was $70. $70 + 32 = $102... so far. There went my birthday money :-P. Oh well... at least I had some money. If it weren't for birthday money and the $100 sent by my sister for graduation, I'd be at -$104 after this month's bills :-\. Can't wait to graduate and find a career job!!! :-P
Blueberry has been cuddling with my stuffed animals lately. It's adorable :)
I'm hoping to survive the next two weeks of my life, which look like this:
Tomorrow: University assembly/survey thing and meeting during work. I might take some time off in between my meeting and the assembly to work on my psychology paper and interview material.
Saturday: Watching little cousin's black belt test in the morning; Dinner with Matt for 3 month anniversary, then Dave and Busters for birthday in the evening
Sunday: Dad visiting/hanging out with family for birthday afternoon/evening
Tuesday: Psychology Paper due, meeting after class
Wednesday: Job interview requiring of prep writing/forms
Thursday: Psychology test
Friday: History paper due
Saturday: Mom visiting for birthday
Sunday: Senior Science majors picnic
Monday: Driving home (2 hrs) after work
Tuesday: Job Interview; driving back to Columbus
Thursday: CIS paper due
Some unknown day that week: CIS final
At least these are my last two weeks of classes/exams before I graduate from college :D. I'm stoked.
I've briefly mentioned this before, but Blueberry (my cat) constantly acts like she's starving to death and hasn't eaten in a week. It gets extremely annoying when she sits by her food bowl and meows incessantly, and gets under my feet / trips me whenever I come home or go into the living room / kitchen area. She gets fed 1/4 cup of food twice a day, which is the vet recommended for my cats growing up, and which is the amount of food she's been given her whole life.
I used to always give in a lot, partially out of annoyance, and really because I feel bad that she might truly be hungry. Seeing as she's gained a good deal of weight since I brought her home (she was in good health), and that after I do give in several times in a row, she tends to throw the food up all over the apartment, I'm beginning to think that she may not really be hungry. I'm thinking that she associates food with attention, and has been conditioned that she will be fed every time someone comes into the general area in which her food bowl is located. When I have the patience to ignore her and am able to objectify the situation (e.g. it's not healthy for a cat to gain 1/4 of her body weight in three months, and she just ate an hour and a half ago), she eventually shuts up.
So... I've decided to take a new approach to the situation. Every time I come home, I will take her away from her food bowl asap and spend a few minutes paying attention to and focusing on her. I'm hoping that this will get her to realize, or at least break the association, that a person coming home isn't linked to food, and that begging for food / eating isn't a means of getting attention.
This might sound stupid, and it may take awhile to fully accomplish my goal, but I think it's at least worth a shot. I tried it today when I got home from class and had success. She started her usual meowing/getting under my feet routine. I almost immediately picked her up, took her away from the bowl, and started petting her. She started heading back over to her food bowl a couple times, at which point I got her attention and called her name her until she came back. I sat with her for a few minutes before getting up and going about my business and she hasn't begged for food at all, even though I was in the kitchen! Yay for a new project, lol.
I don't want to write my article summary. I don't really want to study for tomorrow's history test, either. So... I'll post randomness to Vox instead :-P
Matt and I are thinking about going to the Arnold Classic on Saturday. I've heard it's pretty cool, and that there are a ton of sports/nutrition/fitness companies and people giving out free stuff. I like free stuff, hehe :-D. I looked through Saturday's agenda, and there's a lot more to it than bodybuilding. I'm pretty interested in the dance and martial arts competitions.
And... Blueberry is getting chubby. I've been feeding her a lot more than I should since I got her because she always seems so incredibly hungry. She meows like she's starving and walks around by my feet, practically tripping me if I don't give her food. :-\. She seems to do this especially when her food bowl is empty, and even when the food is all pushed to one side. I'm not sure if she equates food to attention or something, but she's confusing and feel bad not feeding her when she's hungry. Hrm.
Finally... My computer can get pretty slow (not surprisingly, with its 256 memory, hahaha). I'm getting a new computer in May, but Matt offered to let me borrow his old PC until then. I'm going to take him up on the offer. My computer is shot. It has trouble running multiple programs while iTunes and Trillian are running, MS Word just took 5 minutes to start, and it hasn't recognized any form of USB mass storage (ie my flash and external hard drives and probably my camera) since I installed software for my GeoSpacial class. Grawr. The only problem would be getting my stuff of of this computer, seeing as USB devices don't work. Maybe I can upload everything to the internet and download it onto my hard drive from another machine... or burn things to a bunch of CD-RWs... The latter would probably be a better idea, lol. What a mess :-\
Oookies. I'm gonna go memorize some stuff about the Protestant Revolution, Scientific Revolution, and Qing Dynasty... right after I make myself some tea :-P
I have the strangest cat... I'm sitting on my bed reading for class when Blueberry comes into the room. She walked over to the corner of the bed and started sniffing at the comforter. Then, all of a sudden she jumped onto the bed under the comforter. She came out for a few minutes, but then jumped right back under the covers and burrowed to the middle of the bed, where she's been laying for the past five minutes or so. I wondered how my sheets got full of cat hair... hahaha, Weirdo.
The big lump at the end of the bed? That'd be my cat.
My first two classes start today: Geospacial Information Systems and Human Sexuality (Psychology). The latter should be interesting. I flipped through the textbook, and the first thing I see are two animated pictures: The first of a woman going down on another woman, and the second of two naked guys making out and groping eachother. Haha, nice. I've heard nothing but good things about the class and I love the professor, so I'm really looking forward to it.
I got my hair cut last week. The stylist took about three inches off and added layers. I'm happy because the last of the colored hair got chopped, so the color all natural. I keep getting tempted to dye it, or at least get low-lights... but I keep reminding myself that I have pretty hair and should enjoy it before it turns gray :-P. It looks a bit flat in the picture, but that's pretty much it :)
And the latest Blueberry picture...
I saw Blueberry running down the hallway with something in her mouth. She stole some chicken from my dinner while I was away from the plate!! grawr! I really hope she ate the whole thing, because if not I have a piece of bbq chicken somewhere in my room >:|
One of my New Years resolutions is to manage my money and track my spending. I've tried in the past, but it's never quite worked for me; no matter how hard I've tried, I could never get my checkbook (or Microsoft Money) balance to match the balance shown online. Err! I recreated my accounts in MS Money on January 1st, and entered this week's transactions today. Apparently, I was off by about $300 when I created the account. I have no clue what I missed, since I swear I started with the current online balance when I put the account in Money. Everything matched up on the 1st, and there aren't any bogus transactions - so how the heck was I off by $300?! :( And now I'm back to being broke. blah.
Anyway... My money management plan is:
- Create a budget based on estimations
- Analyze my spendings through February or March with MS Money and adjust my budget as necessary
- Save money by cutting back on eating out and buying Starbucks/Panera coffee
- Cut back on random purchases by making a weekly shopping list and limiting myself to 1-2 trips to the store a week instead of going almost every day (I live across the street from a grocery store and drive past a Target every day on the way to/from work and school :-P)
Lastly... I <3 my baby :)
